We are seeking a full-time Install Lead to head the installation of projects ranging from singular works to entire environments. The Install Lead will manage a team of fabricators, delegate tasks, create a schedule, and creatively solve problems that arise on site. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in all things construction, will have experience managing other employees, and will have a strong attention to detail.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete a variety of construction tasks as needed including but not limited to: installing prefabricated pieces, framing, painting, woodworking, low voltage electrical, and technology integration
  • Interpret plans/instructions from the Project Manager to perform the tasks correctly
  • Delegate tasks to fabricators using clear and detailed communication
  • Creatively solve problems that arise on site
  • Perform all tasks with a safety-first mentality

Job Requirements

  • Experience installing unique items in a variety of situations: on walls, hanging overhead, and into concrete slabs
  • Experience with metal and wood fabrication
  • Experience managing other employees

Museum Exhibit Artist

Full-Time

Houston, TX

The Museum Exhibit Artist will use a blend of construction and artistic skills to bring sculptural and structural elements from raw materials to finished product. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hard working, familiar with a broad range of sculptural and millwork processes, materials, and applications, and knows when to ask questions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be able to read and manufacture from shop drawings with minimal supervision and apply a working knowledge of the methods, equipment, materials, and tools to fabricate and install highly complex, artisan quality exhibits for the museum and exhibition industry.
  • Assemble display parts generated and milled on CNC machine
  • Assist in wrapping, packing, loading, and unloading material deliveries and/or elements for installation
  • Assist in installation of fabricated elements
  • Perform general maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, maintaining OSHA compliance through work practice

Knowledge and Skill

  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Familiarity with a variety of materials: hardwoods, sheet goods, veneers, laminates, adhesives, and finishes
  • Extensive knowledge of stationary and hand-held power tools including table saws, drill press, routers, typical rotary blade/bit tools, and nail guns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or artistic practice preferred
  • 1 year of experience in scenic/themed environments or related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and adhere to quality standards

Finish Prep (Auto Body Combo Person)

Full-Time

Houston, TX

We are seeking a full-time Auto Body Combo Person to help prep our prefabricated pieces for paint/finish. The ideal candidate will be experienced in proper surface preparation on a variety of materials and will have a strong attention to detail. This position does not involve work on vehicles.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Finish Specialist to understand processes necessary to achieve the desired results
  • Use body filler and blade to fill surface defects, seams, joints, voids, holes, and uneven surfaces on objects of varying size, shape, and material
  • Use sanding block to flatten, feather edges, contour, blend, and surface fillers and substrates
  • Assist team members when necessary to meet project deadlines. May include working with different materials and processes.
  • Maintain a tidy work area

Knowledge and Skill Expectations

Filler & Blade
  • Understand and utilize/practice proper blade technique to minimize time spent and repetition during preparatory process
  • Filler work is tight, clean and controlled
  • Control thickness, shape, contour, aeration, and taper
  • Evidence of proper angle and pressure of blade are present and apparent in the results
  • Minimize filler waste and sanding of excess filler
  • Produce consistent, efficient, and high quality work regardless of tool used, surface size, or surface shape
Block
  • Understand usage of and implementation of fundamental block skills
  • Select proper backer size, shape, and hardness, depending on the task
  • Generate 3D shapes and complex forms accurately

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of auto body experience

Shop Manager

Full-Time

We are seeking a Shop Manager to manage a variety of operational aspects of our facility. The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing a fabrication shop, have the ability to juggle a large variety of tasks across multiple timelines, and have basic construction skills. The position will report to the Project Manager and will directly supervise the Facilities team.     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Building Maintenance
  • Supervise all aspects related to the functionality of the building, including: electricity, water, HVAC, roof leaks  
  • Communicate with building management and contractors 
Tool Inventory/Maintenance
  • Build and maintain a tool inventory system
  • Coordinate maintenance of all tools, including large shop equipment (CNC, table saw, robot arm, forklifts)
Consumable Inventory Tracking
  • Track inventory and consumption of frequently-used materials around the shop, such as fasteners, lumber, metal, paint, and abrasives
  • Submit timely purchase requests and avoid inventory shortages.
Company Vehicle Maintenance
  • Ensure company vehicles are kept in working order
  • Coordinate annual inspections and registrations
Health & Safety Protocols
  • Maintain a safe work environment free of hazards and keep first aid stations current
  • Inform and enforce safety policies and procedures
  • Hold monthly safety meetings and perform random safety checks
Incoming/Outgoing Product Logistics
  • Ensure incoming deliveries are accurately labeled, stored, and distributed
  • Plan daily routes for pick-ups and deliveries with driver(s)
General Shop Upkeep
  • Use Trello task management software to delegate and organize task list
  • Maintain a tidy and organized shop with effective storage to maximize available space
  • Coordinate with facilities team, fabricators, and other employees to move products through the fabrication and installation processes    

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong familiarity with employee management, warehouse principles, construction materials, tools, inventory management, and safety
  • Ability to work individually as well as manage a team to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate multitasking and organizational skills
  • Safely operate a forklift, company vehicles, and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and vendors, show initiative, and fit into an interdepartmental environment

  • Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license
  • 2+ years of warehouse and/or shop management experience

Driver/Warehouse Worker

We are seeking a driver/warehouse worker who desires working in a creative environment, supporting the fabrication and installation teams, and learning about our multifaceted construction processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport a variety of items to/from locations across the Greater Houston area using company vehicles
  • Wrap, pack, load, and unload items
  • Accurately communicate critical information between employees and vendors/subcontractors
  • Receive incoming shipments at shop using a forklift, pallet jack, or by hand
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and inventoried work area for all departments 
  • Perform general construction tasks as well as minor tool maintenance and repair  
  • Assisting other department leads and team members as needed

Knowledge and Skill

  • Strong familiarity with and experience navigating the streets and freeways of Greater Houston 
  • Knowledge of construction materials, tools, warehouse principle, inventory management, and safety

The ideal candidate will have advanced Rhino skills, experience designing organic elements, and an extensive knowledge of construction materials and processes. Job Responsibilities

  • Work with principal or use conceptual drawings to generate design builds in Rhino
  • Work with fabricators to assist in fabrication of designed elements
  • Create files for machine fabrication (CNC, robot arm, 3D printer, etc.)
